Practice in relation to dance and disability has made great strides over the past 30 years with notions of who dances, who makes dance, and how that dance looks being challenged and re-imagined.
Less well explored, documented and articulated are movement practices with people with PMLD. Wanna Dance? explores dance as a sensory, non verbal language prioritising one to one dancing through artist-in-residency programmes, creative projects and training.
Through year-long residencies dance artists join members of their local adult day centre in one-to-one dancing, supporting individuals to 'take the lead' and valuing their lived experiences of dance/movement.
Our creative projects seek to respond to, develop and capture the movement responses arising from the in-residency programme. Projects to date include: Wanna Dance? (2023), When We Meet- 5 dances (2025) and Wanna Dance? Jam (2025).
Brings together dance artists from across the UK and abroad twice a year to share practice, knowledge, questions and challenges.
We share our developing practice through online and in person workshops for dance artists, care staff and organisations.
