By artists for artists, this website brings together PMLD Dance Professionals to share approaches, knowledge and resources to enrich dance experiences for people living with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities. Together we explore, question, develop and inspire our practice - and each other - to ensure all people with PMLD can experience and enjoy dance.
PMLD Dance is brought to you by Cheshire Dance in collaboration with its partners.
We believe that everyone should be able to be creative throughout their lives and that everyone has the right to take part in excellent creative activities in inclusive, enabling environments. We believe in breaking down barriers to enable everyone - regardless of their disability - to access and engage with the art form.
We champion dance artists, their learning and the development of their practice and approach to dance with people with Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities (PIMD). As a result, as artists we are inspired by working with people with PMLD and champion working with each unique person in the way which is best for them.
We facilitate a practice sharing network for dancers across the UK who work with people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities. Together, we proactively respond to feedback from people with PMLD and those who support them, and we facilitate programmes of sessions for people that are living with disabilities.
We seek to identify and challenge some of the barriers involved in undertaking ethical research and explore best practice in relation to co-created movement-based practices with adults with PMLD.
